Sangeet Kaur Khalsa and Hari Nam Singh's Double Gong Meditation October 4, 2016
[Ed. This is the audio of the October 4th class. Ignore the words on this page, they are from September's class. I update the class description soon. Go ahead and enjoy the audio part of the class, it is really good!]
Sat Nam Everyone!
Many of you may not know this, but for the past six-and-a-half years the husband-and-wife team of Sangeet Kaur Khalsa and Hari Nam Singh have been leading Double Gong meditations in Phoenix, Arizona.
The meditation is held on the First Tuesday of each month at Yoga Phoenix.
While Sangeet was playing "her" gong at the last meditation, she had this idea that you might want to enjoy the class from home and at your convenience.
Here is a quick summary of the class.
1. Intro, Tune In, Yoga Warm Ups
Sangeet does a little talking to everyone, then everyone does the Kundalini Yoga Tune In to begin class. This is followed by "standard" Kundalini yoga warm ups. While Sangeet is leading the class in warm ups, do your own warm ups during that time.
2. Meditation -Wahe Guru To Clear The Arc Line And The Karmas
After the warm ups, Sangeet leads us in an easy and effective short meditation for about 4 minutes. Here is how to do the meditation from Sangeet's Womanheart Resource Manual (2015 edition, page 82-83, movement #3).
The beauty and simplicity of this meditation is unparalleled. We clear the arc line of its karmas, and it only takes a few minutes to accomplish much.
Sometimes we do this meditation for just a few minutes and we do it without music such as we did in this class. When we do this meditation for 31 minutes, we use the chant Healing Sounds of the Ancients Volume 6 - Wahe Guru Jio by Gyani Ji. It is available for instant download from Invincible Music. It is a chant that you should have in your music library! Please note when using that song, the mantra has an "extra sound", "Wahe Jio", after the 4th "Wahe Guru" -just rest your arms in the starting position during the "Wahe Jio" then resume with the arm movement with the next "Wahe Guru."
Asana: Sit in Easy Pose with a straight spine.
Drishti: Eyes are closed but optionally be at Third Eye.
Mantra: Wahe Guru
Movement: Prepare for this simple sweeping moment by sitting with your arms bent at elbows at mid-torso, forearms parallel to floor, palms up with hands flat or slightly cupped.
Sweep the arms upward on the sound of Wahe making sure the wrists pass the ear lobes. Then return them to the original position while chanting Guru.
Time: 3-5 minutes is a great start. For extra effectiveness, do the meditation for 31 minutes.
To End: Inhale and stretch your hands behind your ears as far back as you can. Hold the breath for 15 seconds, then exhale. Keep your hands in back and repeat this inhale and hold 3 more times. Then lower hands into lap and relax.
3. Double Gong Meditation
Get all nice and comfy relaxing on your back while Sangeet and Hari Nam play the gongs for about an hour. Just "let go and get in the flow." It is okay to fall asleep!
4. Longtime Sunshine Song and Numerology for September and the rest of 2016:
Sangeet concludes her class with the Longtime Sunshine Song then updates everyone on the Numerology of the current month (September, 2016) and a few comments about the rest of the year.
We live in "interesting times" for sure.
Sat Nam and thank you for enjoying the class and please share this page with your friends!
