Sangeet leads a perfect class to start the month of May. Learn a simple kriya (exercise) to handle moments of worry, upset, or when you want to yell and scream. Strengthen your heart with seven strong asanas (postures) and learn a short meditation for brain drain. The video is below.

This Morning's Yoga Class is Titled “Power To The Heart & Peace To The Mind”

Dear Family,

Here’s a great set for this opening week of a high-power 10-Cycle month of new beginnings.

When Sangeet led this set with us almost a year ago at Anahata Studio she told us it was the perfect way to calm a worried or upset mind.

Normally most folks breathe about 15 times a minute. Slow the breath down to four breaths per minute and after a few minutes the disruptive thoughts may still be there but they will not provoke an emotional reaction. No more desire to yell or shout. You have balanced the functional brain. This is a formula for tranquility, balance and intuition given by the Master.

While it’s great for women to do at any time, it’s perfect medicine for everyone.

Hari Nam gives us beautiful examples of the classic “Bridge Series” yoga set bringing together powerful Crow Squats with Body Drops and a moving Bridge Pose.

The mantra for the set is “Ong Sohung” ( “One God, I am You!”) both out loud and silently while focusing on the Pineal Gland.

The closing meditation in the yoga set brings powerful energy, elevating the consciousness. The Master gave us the closing “Long Ong” meditation many times for differing reasons.

He told us it eradicates loneliness between us and God. It is a powerful anti-depressant and combats “brain drain.” Sangeet says this is a special favorite of hers.

After the final exercise, relax on your back, close your eyes, and drift off as Sangeet gently plays her beautiful gong as you drift away into Infinity.

Bless you for taking the time to nurture yourself with this class,

Sangeet and Hari Nam

Sangeet opens this class with a life-giving breath that cleanses every cell in the lungs. It includes a mudra (hand posture) that balances the brain and creates equilibrium. The ancient sages said of this breath-exercise (pranayam kriya) that it gives you the strength to go through time and space with righteousness.

Sangeet Kaur Khalsa and Hari Nam Singh's Double Gong Meditation October 4, 2016

[Ed. This is the audio of the October 4th class. Ignore the words on this page, they are from September's class. I update the class description soon. Go ahead and enjoy the audio part of the class, it is really good!]

Sat Nam Everyone!

Many of you may not know this, but for the past six-and-a-half years the husband-and-wife team of Sangeet Kaur Khalsa and Hari Nam Singh have been leading Double Gong meditations in Phoenix, Arizona.

The meditation is held on the First Tuesday of each month at Yoga Phoenix.

While Sangeet was playing "her" gong at the last meditation, she had this idea that you might want to enjoy the class from home and at your convenience.

Here is a quick summary of the class.

1. Intro, Tune In, Yoga Warm Ups

Sangeet does a little talking to everyone, then everyone does the Kundalini Yoga Tune In to begin class. This is followed by "standard" Kundalini yoga warm ups. While Sangeet is leading the class in warm ups, do your own warm ups during that time.

2. Meditation -Wahe Guru To Clear The Arc Line And The Karmas

After the warm ups, Sangeet leads us in an easy and effective short meditation for about 4 minutes. Here is how to do the meditation from Sangeet's Womanheart Resource Manual (2015 edition, page 82-83, movement #3).

The beauty and simplicity of this meditation is unparalleled. We clear the arc line of its karmas, and it only takes a few minutes to accomplish much.

Sometimes we do this meditation for just a few minutes and we do it without music such as we did in this class. When we do this meditation for 31 minutes, we use the chant Healing Sounds of the Ancients Volume 6 - Wahe Guru Jio by Gyani Ji. It is available for instant download from Invincible Music. It is a chant that you should have in your music library! Please note when using that song, the mantra has an "extra sound", "Wahe Jio", after the 4th "Wahe Guru" -just rest your arms in the starting position during the "Wahe Jio" then resume with the arm movement with the next "Wahe Guru."

Wahe Guru Meditation to Clear The Arc Line And KarmasAsana: Sit in Easy Pose with a straight spine.

Drishti: Eyes are closed but optionally be at Third Eye.

Mantra: Wahe Guru

Movement: Prepare for this simple sweeping moment by sitting with your arms bent at elbows at mid-torso, forearms parallel to floor, palms up with hands flat or slightly cupped.

Sweep the arms upward on the sound of Wahe making sure the wrists pass the ear lobes. Then return them to the original position while chanting Guru.

Time: 3-5 minutes is a great start. For extra effectiveness, do the meditation for 31 minutes.

To End: Inhale and stretch your hands behind your ears as far back as you can. Hold the breath for 15 seconds, then exhale. Keep your hands in back and repeat this inhale and hold 3 more times. Then lower hands into lap and relax.

3. Double Gong Meditation

Get all nice and comfy relaxing on your back while Sangeet and Hari Nam play the gongs for about an hour. Just "let go and get in the flow." It is okay to fall asleep!

4. Longtime Sunshine Song and Numerology for September and the rest of 2016:

Sangeet concludes her class with the Longtime Sunshine Song then updates everyone on the Numerology of the current month (September, 2016) and a few comments about the rest of the year.

We live in "interesting times" for sure.

Sat Nam and thank you for enjoying the class and please share this page with your friends!

Tuning In With The Adi Mantra

Tuning In

In Kundalini Yoga we begin every class by "Tuning In" with the Adi Mantra. It connects us to the infinite Creative Consciousness, and to the Golden Chain of masters who have kept this yoga technology alive, the most recent of whom is the Master of Kundalini Yoga and White Tantric, Yogi Bhajan.

Chanting this provides us with focus and a protective vibration for the practice we are about to undertake. It should be chanted before any yoga set or meditation is begun.

Demonstration of "Easy Pose" with hands in "Prayer Pose"Asana (posture) and Mudra (hand position): Sit in Easy Pose with hands in Prayer Mudra. Palms are pressed flat together at the center of the chest with the thumb knuckles pressing lightly against the chest bone (the sternum).

Drishti (eyes): Closed and looking out the "third eye point."

Pranayam (breath): Inhale and exhale once, then inhale again and begin the chant.

Mantra (sound):

Ong Namo (“I bow to the Infinite Creative Consciousness”)

Guru Dev Namo (“I bow to the Divine Wisdom within me and beyond me”)

Chant the mantra 3 times.

"Adi Mantra" or the "Tuning In" Mantra melody

To End: Inhale deeply, hold a few seconds, then exhale and relax.

Longtime Sunshine Song

Longtime Sunshine Song

In Kundalini Yoga we end every class with the "Longtime Sunshine" song. This should be sung at the close of any yoga or meditation practice.

Demonstration of "Easy Pose" with hands in "Prayer Pose"Asana (posture) and Mudra (hand position): Sit in Easy Pose with hands in Prayer Mudra.

Drishti (eyes): Eyes are closed looking out the "third eye point."

Pranayam (breath): Inhale and exhale once, then inhale again and begin the chant.

Lyrics:

May the longtime sun shine upon you,
All love surround you,
And the pure light within you,
Guide your way on...

(Repeat once, then follow with one or more looong)

Sat Nam

Music Sheet to the song "Longtime Sunshine"

To End: Inhale deeply, hold a few seconds, then exhale and relax.
