Dear Friends,

The call has gone out for your donations now at a time of immense national disaster. The pain of thousands of suffering people is seen across all newscasts - mothers and dads clutching babies, people wading through foul waters looking for high dry ground and refuge.

What can you do to help? Donate money through any of the relief agencies. Volunteer if you can. That's all to the good. But whether or not you can give money or time, there is another kind of gift that everyone can give that is surely needed. And that gift is your prayer - to heal the pain of the souls that have departed as well as those who are struggling to recover their lives.

When this nation suffered its last great tragedy - on that fateful morning of 9/11 four years ago - many of you responded by sending your prayers and Reiki healing energy.

Now I am calling on you to do so again for our neighbors along the Gulf Coast, and to continue sending prayers and Reiki until every last person has been found, helped, given shelter and their basic needs met. That means weeks, yes even months.

Focus your prayers for 11 minutes each day. For your words to be even more powerful, speak out loud your request to God while you visualize and see all these people receiving love, healing, food and clothes, shelter, peace of mind and spiritual upliftment.

For those of you who are Reiki trained, use your "Long Distance Healing" skills directed to them for 11 minutes every day.

"Prayer is the power!" our beloved teacher Yogi Bhajan always told us. Since our birth as a nation, this country was destined to live by the power of prayer. We pledge to live as "one nation under God." We issue currency which declares "In God We Trust."

Well start cashing in on that currency. Put that oath to work.

You can power up your efforts even more by calling a group of friends and do your prayers and/or Reiki with you at a pre-set time each day. I'm choosing 6:30 a.m. which is close to the end of my daily meditation time. Feel free to select that time with me, if you wish, or chose another time better suited to you. We don't have to have to actually be together. When numbers of people link up in the "ethers," our efforts will be profoundly stronger.

Last Sunday, when I first heard that this hurricane was heading for New Orleans, Hari Nam and I were in northern New Mexico about to drive down to Albuquerque to catch the plane home. We had been there for the services commemorating the passing of Yogi Bhajan nearly a year ago. During most of that drive to the airport I transmitted Reiki and prayers, focusing that energy as we do in Reiki with it all written on a piece of paper between my hands. I focused on curbing the storm and saving lives.

I've experienced a lot of energized subjects between my hands over all these years but never have I felt the power of a Category 5 hurricane. This was awesome raw power and my hands lit up so quickly.

I know I wasn't alone in sending prayers to that situation - many of you were doing the same thing! As bad as things are down there right now, I know many lives were spared by the work we all did.

Now we must work to sustain and renew life.

Are you ready? Will you join me in this? Choose your time - either 6:30 a.m. or some other time - where friends will join you. Let's keep the life and love flowing. In God we trust and in God we dwell - make that our national motto.
