Leaving, Grieving, Believing, and Trust

Hear Sangeet's Message as "RealAudio" or "WMA".   I need help with audio...

Dear Friends,

As I write this letter to you, millions of Americans across our nation hang on the news channels daily awaiting a life or death outcome.

A young woman lies in a hospice care facility in Florida denied food and water - her feeding tube removed by court order solely on the word of one man - dying a cruel and torturous death. No court appears to be her friend. No judge rises to halt the basic inhumanity of this play, even though evidence now emerging indicates that Terri Schiavo is not in a persistent vegetative state. It is almost certain that she feels pain and is conscious on some level.

Her family suffers with her. People throng outside the facility where she lies dying, trying to gain entry with symbolic cups of water. They are arrested, one by one - men, women and young children. Think of it: a pre-teen, only 10 years old, with an arrest record for trying to bring water to a dying woman.

Here in Arizona a young man, touched deeply by her plight, takes himself off water and food in sympathetic link with her. This is a soul feeling the pain of another soul, communicating with no one just as she cannot communicate either, silently protesting to God that humanity has turned a deaf ear. Perhaps he is not the only one. Perhaps others are joining her too.

What are we doing? What kind of systems have we created? Where is the kind in humankind? Since when has any court convicted someone on the unproven word of one person? Murderers are treated more compassionately and given extensive appellate rights for full retrial of their case.

We in America have seen so many deaths in this bright new century - lives wasted from hatred, greed, and even indifference. From the World Trade Center to Terri Schiavo in four short years.

Yet in tragedy we must never forget some critical things. First, that every soul is eternal and never dies. Second, that each soul takes a life to deal with its karma (fate, or consequences of past actions) and to strive to reach its destiny. Every soul makes progress along both of these life paths. No matter what comes, each of us has that destiny mission, that purpose for being here.

Even in the act of leaving we call death, even amidst the grieving, know this: believing in our soul and the protection of Almighty God is the one standard we must hold on to. This life is precious only if we seek to live a life of highest service and inspire others to do so also.

Never let pain stop you from following such a path. If Terri Shiavo dies at this time, her death may help wake up this country to address the plight of severely handicapped people and larger issues around death and dying. And perhaps that is her destiny. There are personal issues each of us must address. If we as a nation can do this, then Terri will not have died in vain. Just as those who perished in the World Trade Center live on in our actions to reach out to others with greater humanity - to correct and heal what we can with a higher consciousness.

What can you do in this case? Pray, with all your heart, for her to be at peace. Send long distance Reiki as so many of you are trained to do. Some of you may chose to "cast your vote," so to speak, by emailing Governor Bush, or you can visit the website: www.terrisfight.org and read recent medical testimony and learn about the bill currently before the U.S. Congress known as the Incapacitated Persons' Legal Protection Act.

Whatever you decide, wherever you stand on this situation, my friends, I beg of you: do not let your spirit die with any death. Whether it be the death of a family member or friend, or a distant face on a television screen. Let your spirit rise to live on and accomplish much good.

Live inspired and inspire others. That is what it means to be living with trust. Trust in God. Trust that you can make a difference in the lives of others. Trust that you can live in the service of the Creator who made you.

Can you trust in that and live such a life? I pray that each of you can. So you do not live foolishly, or die foolishly. Because the Great Lord who made us all serves each of us tirelessly, believes in each of us, and prays for each of us.

Bless you in all ways always

Help for Hearing Sangeet's Message

To hear Sangeet's message, click on "RealAudio" or "WMA" above. "RealAudio" and "WMA" are different types of audio files. You can click on either one, it just depends on which sound player software your computer has. "RealAudio " requires a "RealOne" or "RealAudio" player (or compatible) and "WMA" requires a "Windows Media" player (or compatible). "RealAudio" tends to be a little more reliable and better sounding, while "WMA" (built into Windows) is more wide spread.

You can't hurt anything by clicking on either one. If nothing happens or an error message pops up, then your computer doesn't have the appropriate software installed. If that is the case, you can get either one of the free players by clicking here.
