Dear Friends,

Here it is November again, on the eve of our annual yatra (spiritual pilgrimage) to India, most especially the Golden Temple in the northern state of Punjab. Wow, ten of us from our Healing Source community are going! We're going to a rare state of being - a meditative center and doorway through to a vastly different dimension… a place where no war, no angers, no politics can touch us, where we will burn off the karma of many lifetimes.

We are so excited. Our staff and several students are all packing for the takeoff tomorrow, the 7th, not to return until the 24th. The time zone there is almost exactly opposite here - 12½ hours ahead of us. When it is noon here, it is half past midnight there. When it is dusk here, it will be pre-dawn there and we will be sitting among thousands in the temple meditating to the sound of the divine hymns and prayers drifting out across the small lake of water surrounding the temple.

We will give an offering for the prayers many of you have written so that a service will be done for these prayers. We are grateful you have given us the opportunity to serve you in this fashion. Your contributions will be used to help support the work of the temple, including the feeding of thousands of people every day.

Then, as last year, many of our group will travel to a special temple in the small farming village of Goindwal to recite the beautiful Japji prayer on the 84 steps there, a ritual so elevating that it burns off 8.4 million lifetimes of karma.

Later we will all go on the town of Anandpur Sahib in the foothills of the Himalayas where one of the great Sikh leaders, Guru Gobind Singh at the end of the 1600s held off the invading Mogul forces for five years. The hills ring with the history of brave men and women who sanctified this place with their lives.

When we return to our beloved Phoenix, we will be ten souls renewed, relieved of much of our worries, and ready to rebuild for a new year.
